THIS SECTION IS BOTH TO UPDATE LIFE ISSUES I’VE MENTIONED IN POSTS, BUT ALSO TO ADDRESS SOME QUESTIONS RAISED IN COMMENTS:
- Well, for one thing, the Welsh Dragon continues to have a life of its own, and I’ve had one particular response from Carole in Wales that meant a lot to me.
- Yes, I am an anglophile, hence the picture I used to use for my header from my favorite trip ever, but I’m American, presently in New Jersey, though Pennsylvania born and bred. Being a welshophile and an anglophile creates a bit of tension, but I just can’t turn my back on Chaucer, Shakespeare and The Chronicles of Narnia (yes, I know Lewis was Irish-Welsh, but the Pevenseys were English).
- I continue to struggle with the demands of being caretaker to an aging parent, but I lot of the time consuming business and urgent medical issues have been addressed, so here’s hoping I can slowly take back my life.
- Yes, I’ve dyed my hair once again.
- The number of English-speaking actors not from the U.S. playing starring and co-starring as Americans in American prime time TV series is, if anything, growing in the 2008-2009 season. And it is still almost a lottery win statistic for a young actor (my daughter and cousins among them) to become a working actor, but this trend is raising odds.
- “Steelers: Stairway to Seven” has been a major blog draw. I was a very happy camper the Steelers won, but even by the next day, it felt oddly anticlimactic. If my hair weren’t dyed, I’d probably have noticed a few extra gray hairs thanks to the final five minutes of the fourth quarter.
